In response to Education Scatter >

Here's an interesting resource for <a href="http://www.essortment.com/home/estimatehowmuc_sbhr.htm" rel="nofollow">estimating the cost of a wooden fence</a>.

A moderately sized compost pile is about 4 feet deep and 8 feet wide, with a dividing fence in the middle for keeping two separate piles. If it were built against an existing fence to minimize the boards needed, that layout would require about 20 feet of boards (4+4+4+8) and 2 gates, with a material cost of $100-200 depending on the type of wood used. It would probably need to be replaced every 3-5 years due to wood rot too.

Has anyone found a less expensive way to build a fenced area for composting?

Very interesting information. A price comparison between the pictured composter and a simple fenced compost pile may be in order as well.

I'm delighted you selected my compost photo to use in your tutorial, but it would have been courteous if you had asked or informed me.
