So much like compost activator, compost starter is a great thing to have in your corner to speed up the compost process. It is not required for having that perfect compost when all is said and done – compost can still be produced without it. The fact remains though that it can be quite helpful.

I read on a couple other websites that compost starter is basically just urine.
Is this true?
A lady posted on one that she just had her boys pee on the pile every once in a while and it was a fantastic additive.
My son is amused at the idea of peeing in the compost bin, but I’d like to know if there’s any validity to this. Sorry for the crass topic.
